Salah satu perawatan kulit yang paling mendasar adalah cleansing atau pembersihan. Meski terdengar sederhana, membersihkan muka perlu dilakukan sesuai kebutuhan sehingga tidak ada sisa makeup dan kotoran yang tak tuntas terangkat lalu menyumbat pori-pori. Di kemudian hari, penyumbat pori-pori inilah yang menyebabkan komedo dan jerawat. Di pagi hari, mencuci muka dengan facial foam ber-pH netral saja sudah cukup, tetapi di malam hari kita perlu melakukan teknik double cleansing, apalagi jika Anda memakai makeup seharian.
Dua langkah membersihkan muka
Double cleansing adalah teknik pembersihan dua tahap untuk wajah kita. Tahap pertama menggunakan pembersih wajah berbahan dasar minyak, yakni susu pembersih (milk cleanser), cleansing balm, atau cleansing oil. Fungsinya untuk membersihkan wajah dari makeup, dengan tekstur minyaknya yang akan meluruhkan makeup yang masih menempel di kulit. Sementara itu tahap kedua menggunakan pencuci muka bilas seperti biasa, untuk mengangkat tuntas sisa minyak yang mengandung residu makeup dan kotoran. Wajah pun jadi bersih tuntas dan segar berseri setelahnya.
Cara melakukan teknik double cleansing
Angkat dulu makeup yang masih menempel di wajah dengan susu pembersih, cleansing oil, atau cleansing balm. Baurkan secara merata pada area kulit yang masih ber-makeup, lalu angkat dengan kapas pembersih lalu lanjutkan dengan toner penyegar, apabila Anda menggunakan milk cleanser. Jika Anda memakai cleansing balm atau cleansing oil, percikkan air ke wajah yang telah dibaluri pembersih berbahan dasar minyak tersebut, lalu pijat dengan gerakan memutar selama beberapa detik. Bilas dengan air, lalu tuntaskan dengan pencuci muka setelahnya.

Produk yang digunakan
Saat ini cleansing balm dan cleansing oil lebih umum digunakan dalam teknik double cleansing ini dibanding memakai cleansing milk yang dilanjutkan dengan toner penyegar. Baik cleansing balm maupun cleansing oil sama-sama pembersih wajah yang berfungsi sebagai pembersih pertama sebelum dilanjutkan dengan pembersih kedua yang biasanya berupa sabun pencuci muka biasa.
